Brazilian Football Confederation Signs Two-Year Deal With Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and Japanese video game maker Konami struck a two-year partnership deal for Pro Evolution Soccer, according to Samindra Kunti of INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL. In September Konami will launch Pro Evolution Soccer 2017. As well as the CBF, Konami also holds exclusive image rights to Brasileiro clubs Flamengo and Corinthians. The CBF is looking toward the future, when it envisages a "virtual" Brazilian championship -- the idea of different gamers "taking on each other, akin to FIFA’s virtual championship but with gamers representing clubs." The CBF wants every club "to have a representative in the championship and to launch the competition next year." The calendar would align with the Brasileiro. CBF Secretary General Walter Feldman said, "Yes, it is among the possibilities. It may be realized soon. We are still studying the different platforms. We are looking for sponsors. Even live-broadcasting on TV is possible" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 8/31).
