Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson Claims New Everton Stadium 'Closer Than It's Ever Been'

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has claimed a new stadium for Everton is "closer than it's ever been" -- and even "dropped a hint over its potential location," according to Kristian Walsh of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. Everton is "exploring the possibility of building a new stadium on a docklands-based site" or on land at Stonebridge Cross after plans to develop on Walton Hall Park "were abandoned earlier this year." Anderson responded to a supporter’s query on Twitter, "providing an update on an announcement."

The second tweet "intimated the site could be the Bramley Moore dock, situated in the northern dock system in Vauxhall" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 8/29).
