DIDIER LAHAYE has been named adjunct director of sports for Canal+. He will report to Sports Dir THIERRY CHELEMAN. Lahaye was director of sports editing at Canal+ since last year (MEDIA SPORTIF, 8/29). ... JASON GILLESPIE "will leave his position as Yorkshire head coach at the end of the season." The 41-year-old "took the reins at Headingley in November 2011 and led Yorkshire from the second division to back-to-back County Championship Division One titles." Gillespie, who has suffered just five first-class defeats in as many seasons, "is returning home to be with his family in Australia." Gillespie, who took 259 wickets in 71 Tests, "has long been linked with a role as Australia's bowling coach" (PA, 8/29). ... Australian Football League side Brisbane Lions sacked coach JUSTIN LEPPITCH. He "was ousted with one year still remaining on his contract, having won just 14 matches in three seasons at the helm." The club "made the decision at a board meeting on Monday morning," with Chair BOB SHARPLESS conceding it is "simply not a competitive football team." Leppitsch "chose not to join" Sharpless and CEO GREG SWANN at Monday’s media conference and was informed of his axing by telephone (AAP, 8/28). ... Former Socceroos captain PAUL OKON "will coach the Central Coast Mariners for at least the next two A-League seasons." Okon assumes the full-time role at the Mariners from TONY WALMSLEY, "who was sacked earlier this month after the team won just three games last season to finish last" (AAP, 8/29).
