Arsenal Shareholder Usmanov Dismisses Suggestion He Is Set To Sell Stake In Club

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov "issued an emphatic denial over claims that he is considering selling his stake in the north London club," according to John Downes of the London DAILY MAIL. Usmanov, who owns a 30.04% stake in Arsenal through Red and White Holdings Plc., was said "to be considering selling his shares in the Gunners, according to a story on Arseblog on Wednesday." The fan website "suggested that the Russian billionaire was looking into moving to Everton, where he would join former partner Farhad Moshiri." But a spokesperson for Usmanov "moved to deny the rumours," saying in a statement, "Contrary to some speculative media reports, Red and White Holdings would like to state that Mr Alisher Usmanov does not intend to sell his stake in Arsenal Holdings Plc ('Arsenal'). Mr Usmanov continues to be committed to Arsenal and considers his stake in the Club as a long-term investment for his family and future generations" (DAILY MAIL, 8/18).
