Ligue 2 Side AJ Auxerre Majority Shareholder Wants Three Board Members Gone

The majority shareholder of Ligue 2 side AJ Auxerre on Wednesday asked for the “outright dismissal of three members of the board of directors,” including “legendary” former Manager Guy Roux, according to 20 MINUTES. Corinne Limido, the widow of Emmanuel Limido, who died in May and was the club’s majority shareholder since ’13, invoked a “loss of confidence vis-à-vis the association” to justify her request. She is “determined to sell AJ Auxerre as fast as possible.” Her decision is “motivated by the opposition of the three members (Roux, Thierry Corniot and Christophe Rémi) to the takeover offer” made by the Chinese group ORG Packaging. The food packaging firm “proposed to buy the 60% stake” in the club held by Limido for €6M ($6.8M). The SAOS association, which holds the remaining 40% of the club, “has a blocking right on this type of offer.” The decisions are “put on hold for now, or until September when the next general assembly of SAOS will be held,” and the dismissals will be the order of the day (20 MINUTES, 8/18).
