Spanish Basketball Club CB Sevilla Changes Name To Real Betis Energía Plus

Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club CB Sevilla on Wednesday presented its new name, corporate identity and uniforms for the '16-17 season, according to Miguel Á. Morán of MARCA. As a result of an agreement reached a few weeks ago to save the club, "it will now be known as Real Betis Energía Plus" -- a name featuring La Liga side Real Betis, which will acquire shares in the club, and Energía Plus, the local business that currently holds the shares in the club. Club President Fernando Moral "unveiled the name the team will now use." He said, "For us it is a great responsibility to defend the name of an entity like Real Betis." Sergio Martín, the CEO of Energía Plus -- which is owned by Real Betis President Ángel Haro -- "confirmed that the business will provide" a €1M ($1.13M) sponsorship (MARCA, 8/17).
