DEBBIE HOCKLEY is "set to be named" New Zealand Cricket's first female president in November. Christchurch-based Hockley has been "nominated by the Canterbury Cricket Association and NZC's board." She will replace former New Zealand cricketer STEPHEN BOOCK, who is in the last of his three-year term. Hockley, 53, is "widely regarded as New Zealand's finest women's cricketer, playing 19 tests and 118 one-day internationals" from '79-00 (STUFF, 8/9).

COACHES/MANAGERSFRANK DE BOER has been confirmed as Serie A side Inter Milan's new head coach "following ROBERTO MANCINI's departure." The 46-year-old Dutchman was "formally unveiled" by the club on Tuesday. De Boer had been linked with Premier League clubs Everton and Southampton "before those vacancies were filled by RONALD KOEMAN and CLAUDE PUEL respectively" (London GUARDIAN, 8/9). ... Nippon Professional Baseball team Chunichi Dragons told Manager MOTONOBU TANISHIGE to "take a leave of absence due to poor results." Longtime head coach SHIGEKAZU MORI will "act as interim manager in place of Tanishige, who is managing full time this season after serving two seasons as player-manager" (KYODO, 8/9). ... PAULO BENTO "will be the new head coach" of Superleague Greece side Olympiacos, after the two sides came to an agreement on Monday. Bento will "take the helm of Greece's champions after a short, unsuccessful stint" of Spanish Manager VICTOR SANCHEZ. Bento previously coached Sporting Lisbon for four years ('05-09) "before taking over Portugal's national team" ('10-14) (GREEK REPORTER, 8/9).
