Media Notes: UFC, Fuji TV Partner To Broadcast 'UFC Time' In Japan

UFC and Japan's Fuji TV announced a new partnership to broadcast "UFC Time," a monthly, one-hour show with information, news and highlights about UFC. Fuji TV will feature the show as part of its "Fujiyama Fight Club" program. The new program features UFC content designed to introduce the sport to the broader Japanese audience and also give fight fans more access to content with highlights of all the months preceding events. The show will also include educational segments highlighting how the global brand has helped establish mixed martial arts and build it into a mainstream sport (UFC).

The BBC "hit back at criticism for dropping the Championship from Sportscene and pointed the finger at Sky Sports and BT Sport for the second tier snub" from their highlights show. Scottish League One side Ayr United Manager Ian McCall "called for a rethink as Scottish football fans slammed the broadcaster and accused them of a lack of interest now that Rangers are back in the top flight." The Light Blues were featured in the BBC’s weekly highlights program during life in the lower leagues but there "was no Championship football shown on the new Sunday primetime slot." BBC bosses said, "The Sportscene Highlights program has historically concentrated solely on the top tier of Scottish football" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 8/9).
