Clubs Demand More Money In Heated Meeting With Chair Of AFA Normalization Committee

Argentine FA Normalization Committee Chair Armando Pérez "eliminated one problem" with the hire of Edgardo Bauza as coach of the national team, according to LOS ANDES. Nevertheless, "a very difficult question for the committee is the economic demands of the clubs." Those from the second division have already announced "that they will not start the tournaments if there is no increase in the money they receive, and those in the first division are until now supportive." On Tuesday, a meeting of the Normalization Committee and representatives of first division clubs "was very heated." After "long negotiations," it was decided to create a committee to demand from the government an increase in funding, from 900M Argentine pesos ($61M) to 1.25B Argentine pesos ($84M). At the meeting, the clubs "said that they need new revenue because costs increased in the first six months of '16" (LOS ANDES, 8/3).
