Hertha Berlin Surprised By Ticket Demand For Europa League Qualifier Against Brondby

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin "has been surprised by the ticket demand for the UEFA Europa League qualification game against Danish club Brondby IF," according to Max Bosse of the BERLINER ZEITUNG. The game will not take place at the club's usual home, Berlin's Olympic Stadium, but at the smaller Friedrich-Ludwig-Jan-Sportpark. The alternative venue has a capacity of 18,454, while the Olympic Stadium offers 74,000 seats. Thursday's game is completely sold out. However, the club is convinced it made the right decision by moving the game to a smaller venue. Hertha Managing Dir Ingo Schiller: "While it could have been 2,000 more, it wouldn't have been the same atmosphere." During the last season, many seats of the Olympic Stadium remained empty, which led to the decision to move the Brondby game. Though the interest in the game surprised the club. Schiller: "We didn't expect such a high demand" (BERLINER ZEITUNG, 7/27).
