Marketplace Roundup: Suzuki Returns As Title Sponsor Of Asean Championship

Suzuki "returned as the title sponsor of the biennial Asean Football Championship for the fifth straight time as the region gears up for the November tournament." This year's edition is co-hosted by Myanmar and the Philippines, with the tournament kicking off on Nov. 19. The two countries "will be hosting the group stages of the tournament for the first time since its inception in 1996" (STRAITS TIMES, 7/19).

JUST RENEW IT: Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk renewed its technical sponsorship contract with Nike. The new agreement will be in effect until '20. Nike will provide players and staff of the club with clothing and footwear, designed with the use of the company's latest technologies, as well as continue joint support and development of social projects (Shakhtar).

EMIRATES AGREEMENT: Emirates Airline "renewed its sponsorship agreement" with the UAE Rugby Federation. Emirates "will continue" as the federation’s official airline sponsor and sponsor of the men’s, women’s and U20 national 7’s and 15’s teams. The agreement "will span five years and will see the Emirates logo displayed on players’ shirts across the respective leagues" (EMIRATES 247, 7/19).

French cycling team AG2R-La Mondiale’s title sponsor “has renewed its partnership” until ’20. French insurance company AG2R “has been the principal sponsor” of the team since ’00. The renewal of the partnership “ensures that the team remains” in the UCI World Tour until at least ’00 (EUROSPORT, 7/19).

German 3rd League football club MSV Duisburg has extended its main sponsorship deal with Austrian outdoor brand Black Crevice. The company's logo will continue to be featured on the front of the club's jerseys as well as on LED boards and cam carpets at the stadium. The deal, which was brokered by Lagardère Sports, will run until June 30, 2017 (Lagardère Sports).

Second Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern "has found a new shirt sponsor" with local start-up Top12.de. As part of the two-year deal, Top12.de's logo "will be featured on the front of the jerseys and on boards in camera view." The deal was brokered by Lagardère Sports and has an estimated value of €1.2M ($1.3M) annually (SPONSORs, 7/19).

Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund set up a cooperation with EZ Shop, which specializes in online shops within the Asian market. This follows the launch of official accounts on the Chinese network WeChat and the Japanese instant-messenger Line (Borussia).

U.K. sports nutrition company EQ Nutrition "announced a partnership deal with boxing trainer and strength and conditioning expert, Shane McGuigan." McGuigan works with U.K. boxers including David Haye, George Groves and Carl Frampton (SPORT INDUSTRY, 7/19).
