Financial Notes: Aston Villa Owner Registers New Business At Villa Park

Aston Villa Owner Tony Xia has "registered a new company with links to the health food market." Xia, who took over Villa last month, "has used part of the club's name in the new venture" -- Vicvilla Healthy Food & Nutritional Biotechnology Ltd. Villa Dir Jamie Banfill is "also listed as a director of the new company, which was registered with Companies House on July 1" (BIRMINGHAM MAIL, 7/18).

EXTRA RIO REVENUE: A study conducted by Brazil's National Confederation of Trade, Services & Tourism (CNC) "shows that the Olympics and Paralympic Games, scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro starting next month should generate revenues" of R$2.68B ($824M) to the state’s tourism sector. The study "estimates the increased revenues will mean a nominal hike" of 18.8% over the same period last year, with foreign visitors spending the equivalent of R$3,089 ($950) during their visit to the state, a total of R$1.77B ($544M) in August for the Olympics and R$912.4M ($280M) for the Paralympics. The food and beverage segment "should account for one-third of the revenues generated by the two events" (RIO TIMES ONLINE, 7/19).
