Following FIFA's decision on June 24 to appoint a normalization committee for the Argentine FA, a joint FIFA and CONMEBOL mission visited Argentina to select the members of the committee. Following this process, the chosen committee will consist of Chair Armando Pérez, Vice-Chair Javier Medín, Carolina Cristinziano and Pablo Toviggino. The normalization committee may propose including up to a maximum of three additional members. In such a case, FIFA and CONMEBOL will select the additional members. The committee will be in charge of running the daily affairs of the AFA, revising the AFA statutes in order to bring them in line with the current FIFA Standard Statutes, and organizing elections accordingly by June 30, 2017 at the latest. The normalization committee will act as an electoral committee and none of its members will be eligible for any of the open positions (FIFA). In Buenos Aires, Fernando Czyz reported Pérez is currently president of Argentine first division club Belgrano. Cristinziano is a lawyer, and her "ties to CONMEBOL were key to her being appointed." Medín is the legal secretary for Boca Juniors. Toviggino is the president of the AFA's Federal Board (LA NACION, 7/18).
