Tottenham To Play Champions League Games To 90,000 At Wembley

Tottenham announced that all three of its Champions League group games at Wembley "will be played to the stadium's full 90,000 capacity," according to SKY SPORTS. Wembley and the FA "agreed in May to host Spurs in Europe next season" and for all its games during the '17-18 season while its new stadium adjacent to White Hart Lane is built. It had been expected that Wembley's top tier would be closed unless it "faced a significant European team." But all three matches, which will be drawn on Aug. 25, "will be played to a 90,000 capacity" and the club has also announced a multi-game ticket option ranging from £70-£150 ($93-$200) (SKY SPORTS, 7/13). In London, James Whaling wrote prices for individual games "have not been announced, and will only be confirmed after the draw." Season ticket holders and members "will be granted exclusivity periods in which to secure their seats for the three group-stage matches" (DAILY MIRROR, 7/13).

NO TRESPASSING
: Also in London, Tristan Kirk wrote Tottenham has been left with a £1M ($1.3M) bill "after a trespasser staged a 12 hour protest on top of a crane at the new stadium development, a court heard." Police spent hours negotiating with Wali Azagh "before he agreed to climb down." The incident caused work on the club's new £500M ($666.7M) stadium "to grind to a halt." Highbury Corner magistrates court heard the club now faces an estimated £1M bill "because of the disruption" (EVENING STANDARD, 7/14).
