Marketplace Roundup: Euroleague Basketball Selects Int'l Agency Sports Revolution

London-based int’l sports, media and digital marketing agency Sports Revolution was “chosen as the agency for planning, implementation and management of the 7DAYS Eurocup and the 7DAYS official snack partnerships of Euroleague Basketball.” Both new partnerships are “due to begin in October” at the start of the European basketball season, running for three years through to the Final Four in ’18-19. Sports Revolution will “now plan, implement and manage the promotional rights campaign primarily across the 7DAYS markets” of Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and the Baltics (SPORT INDUSTRY, 7/11).

GINSTERS DEAL: League Two side Plymouth Argyle CEO Martyn Starnes said that "a new three-year sponsorship deal with Ginsters is a vote of confidence" in the club. Ginsters renewed a previous partnership with Plymouth Argyle. Ginsters is "making a strong push into football sponsorship, also striking a deal with Channel 5" for its weekly English Football League (formerly Football League) highlights show (PLYMOUTH HERALD, 7/8).

OFFICIAL FOOTBALLNike released its "official footballs" for the '16-17 seasons in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A. The company has "gone for a colourful theme for all three match balls for the upcoming season, with multi-coloured segments surrounding the respective league badges." Nike also introduced its new technology -- Nike Ordem 4 -- which has been "based around the three key elements of construction, material and graphics" (SKY SPORTS, 7/11).

Puma
and South African Premier Division football side Mamelodi Sundowns on Monday announced a long-term partnership -- effective July 1, Puma will become the official kit partner of the Tshwane-based club. This new commercial partnership represents the biggest football kit deal in Puma South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns football history. In addition to producing the playing and training kit for all Mamelodi Sundowns teams, Puma has acquired wide-ranging licensing rights to develop other Mamelodi Sundowns-branded merchandise (Sundowns). 

Piton Beer announced it will be one of the official sponsors of Caribbean Premier League side St. Lucia Zouks for the '16 CPL season (St. Lucia Zouks). 

German World Tour pro cycling team Giant-Alpecin "secured a new main sponsorship deal" with German-based travel provider Sunweb.de. The company "reportedly signed a three-year deal and will replace Giant." The agreement "will start in '17 and run through '19" (BILD, 7/7).

Lagardère Sports has partnered with Romanian tennis player Simona Halep and her management representative Virginia Ruzici to grow Halep's profile and off-court commercial opportunities. As part of the relationship, Lagardère Sports’ tennis division will leverage the agency’s global network to develop marketing and endorsement opportunities for Halep. The world No. 5 has won 12 career WTA singles titles in her career. (Lagardère Sports).
