Bayern Munich and Sporting Dir MATTHIAS SAMMER have parted ways by mutual consent. Sammer took over the role in July '12. During his tenure, the club won four Bundesliga titles, three DFB Cup titles, the Champions League, the Supercup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Sammer missed the back end of the '15-16 campaign having discovered a "tiny circulatory disorder of the brain" in April '16, but despite his health being "restored," the former European champion has decided to step down from his position. Sammer's contract was due to run out in '18 (Bundesliga). ... Eir has appointed senior RTÉ exec GLEN KILLANE as managing director of Eir TV and Eir Sport, "the new name for Setanta Sports." Killane has been managing director of RTÉ Television and "a member of the executive board of the public service broadcaster" since '10. He was "previously its group head of sport for six years." In that role, "he was responsible for RTÉ’s sports rights negotiations." Killane "will head up the company's television business including Eir Sport, as well as all sports-related sponsorships" (IRISH TIMES, 7/7).

IN SPAIN: Former basketball player JORGE GARBAJOSA was elected as the new president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) after an extraordinary general assembly on Saturday in Madrid. He defeated ARTURO AGUADO in the second round of voting 61-54 (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 7/9). MIGUEL DÍAZ ROMÁN was named the new president of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET). Díaz Román, 55, is a Madrid-based businessman who has been the president of Int'l Club Tennis for eight years (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 7/9). 

COACHES/MANAGERS: League One side Oldham Athletic appointed Scottish Premiership side Motherwell and Northern Ireland assistant manager STEPHEN ROBINSON as its new manager. Robinson, 41, "has been working at Euro 2016" as MICHAEL O'NEILL's number two. Oldham has been "looking for a new manager since the departure of JOHN SHERIDAN, who left to take over at Notts County" (BBC, 7/9). ... Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club Barcelona has signed GEORGIOS BARTZOKAS as its new head coach for the next three seasons. Bartzokas, 51, arrives from Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, which he led to its most succesful season ever by reaching this year's Euroleague Final Four in Berlin (Euroleague).
