Second Bundesliga Club VfL Bochum Secures New Stadium Naming-Rights Partner

Second Bundesliga club VfL Bochum has found a new stadium naming-rights partner with local real estate company Vonovia. The company secured the naming rights for five years until June 30, 2021. The club did not reveal any financial details of the agreement, except that the contract is valid for the Bundesliga, 2nd Bundesliga and 3rd League. The stadium is owned by the city of Bochum, but as part of the leasing agreement the club is allowed to individually market the stadium naming rights (VfL Bochum). SPONSORs' Gabriel Wagner reported the stadium's previous naming-rights partner, Rewirpower, which is a brand of utility company Stadtwerke Bochum, paid around €1.5M ($1.66M) annually for the rights (SPONSORs, 7/10).
