Celtic Continuing Plans For Safe-Standing Areas At Celtic Park Next Season

Scottish Premiership side Celtic is "pressing on" with its plans to introduce safe-standing areas from the beginning of the new season, according to the London DAILY MIRROR. The club reportedly revealed the news that "rail seats will be installed over the summer" in its season-ticket renewal information. The newly modified area at Celtic Park "will be in the corner of the Lisbon Lions Stand, which currently houses the Green Brigade fans' group." Celtic was "granted permission from authorities in June last year to introduce the safe standing area" -- based on versatile seating common at German grounds. The club's initial plans "were to accommodate up to 2,600 supporters." The club "also announced the freeze on season ticket prices" for the '16-17 season. Safe-standing "has proved popular especially in Germany where it is widely used across the Bundesliga" (DAILY MIRROR, 7/6).
