Canal+ Acquires TV Rights To French Third-Tier Football League National Championship

At a meeting of French third-tier football league National clubs and the French Football Federation, FFF President Noël Le Graët announced that “Canal+ will be the new broadcaster of the National Championship,” according to MEDIA SPORTIF. At the start of the next season in August, “the top billed match will be broadcast on Canal+ Sport or Foot+ on Saturday.” The other matches played on Fridays “will be broadcast on the Internet.” Since ’13, the third-tier championship has been broadcast on Ma Chaine Sport “with a minimum of twenty matches per season and a highlights show each Monday.” Last year, Ma Chaine Sport paid around €200,000 for the TV broadcast rights to the competition. The sum paid by Canal+ for the rights was not disclosed (MEDIA SPORTIF, 7/5).
