More Than 28 Million Watch Euro 2016 Quarterfinal Match On ARD

German public broadcaster ARD "drew more than 28 million viewers to its Euro 2016 quarterfinals coverage," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. The match between Germany and Italy attracted an average audience of 28.32 million viewers starting at 9pm on Saturday. The number translated into a market share of 79.8%. In the target demographic 14-49, Germany's win after penalty kicks obtained a market share of 83.1% as 11.08 million viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 7/3). QUOTENMETER's Sidney Schering reported German public broadcaster ZDF recorded 18.93 million viewers for its coverage of the game between France and Iceland. The game, which kicked off at 9pm on Sunday, drew a market share of 54.3%. In the target demo, France's 5-2 victory attracted 8.25 million viewers and had a market share of 60% (QUOTENMETER, 7/4).

FRANCE VS. ICELAND: 20 MINUTES reported an average audience of over 17 million viewers watched the Euro 2016 quarterfinal France vs. Iceland match on M6, the numbers translated to a 60% market share. Near the end of the match there was a peak audience of 19.3 million viewers. The match represents the “best audience on record for M6.” M6 also reported more than 1.3 million tweets were recorded using the hashtage #FRAISL. The group stage match between France and Switzerland had previously held M6’s audience record with an average audience of 13.5 million viewers (20 MINUTES, 7/4).
