Media Notes: Man City Launches Messenger Bot To Bring Latest News To Fans

Man City launched a new Messenger Bot to give supporters a club perspective on the latest news and topics surrounding the team. Subscribers to the Messenger Bot can receive news from the following topics: Pep Talk, Transfer News and Social Buzz, with Match Highlights and Matchday Content to come in time for the start of the '16-17 season. To get going, fans can visit the Man City Facebook account and open the "Messenger" tab. The City Bot will also send fans wallpapers, photos, links to behind-the-scenes videos and more (Man City).

The FIA Formula E Championship announced that it will live stream the '15-16 season finale of the series directly to Facebook using Grabyo. Grabyo is an official live streaming partner of Facebook, allowing rights holders to broadcast live events to the world's biggest social media platform, as well as YouTube. Fans can watch the London ePrix live on Facebook in 20 regions, including Russia, Malaysia, India and Spain. In addition to the live streaming of free practice sessions, qualifying and the races, which will include full commentary and graphics, Formula E will use Grabyo throughout the race weekend to live broadcast a fan chat-show -- "Chat-E" -- directly from the pit lanes as well as several esports events from Formula E's virtual championship -- Race Off Pro Series (Formula E).

The stream showing Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara owner Grupo Omnilife CEO José Luis Higuera's presentation of Chivas TV "was intermittent," sparking concern about the club's "ability to produce" Internet-only content in a country in which 44.4% of the population use the Internet and only 34.4% of homes have Internet, according to a '15 government study. Higuera stressed that "Internet penetration in Mexico is already at 60 percent and increasing in mobile [appliances]." There will "also be worries about the price of the content, with the minimum legal daily wage in the state of Jalisco -- of which Guadalajara is the capital -- less than $4" (ESPN, 6/29).
