Premiership Side Worcester Warriors Increase Budget By 25%

Amid the "major news" of Premiership rugby side Worcester Warriors Rugby Dir Dean Ryan's departure from the club, CEO Jim O'Toole has "taken the opportunity to reiterate the long-term financial commitment" to becoming an established Premiership club and confirm that the budget for the forthcoming season has had a "significant boost," according to RUNNING RUGBY. O'Toole said, "I was slightly bemused to read that there was any hint of Warriors tightening the purse strings as we prepare for the forthcoming Aviva Premiership season. We have committed to a 25 percent increase in our rugby budget for the 2016-17 season -- a significant rise, which I am sure many of our competitors will envy." The club's recent investment program "has seen a spend" of £3M ($4M) on a new outdoor artificial training pitch, a new grass training pitch and the comprehensive refurbishment of the indoor training facilities. The club is "also undertaking its current project of the installation" of a £750,000 ($993,000) artificial grass pitch at Sixways Stadium (RUNNING RUGBY, 6/30).
