The DA's office believes that Laporta "cannot be considered a victim of the supposed crimes in the signing of the player" (EP, 6/27). ... British Olympic champion DANI KING is "considering appealing against the British Cycling decision to leave her out of the country's road race team for the Rio Olympics." King, who won the track team pursuit Gold at the 2012 London Games, "is the second-highest ranked British woman on the UCI World Tour" behind world road champion LIZZIE ARMITSTEAD. King: "I haven't really been given a fair explanation as to why I haven't been selected to be completely honest" (REUTERS, 6/27). ... Former NBA player SHAQUILLE O'NEAL on Sunday "hosted a clinic in Havana for young Cuban players" as part of a U.S. government-sponsored trip to promote bilateral ties. O'Neal, who earlier this week was named sports envoy to Cuba by U.S. President BARACK OBAMA, "offered young players tips and new techniques to develop in the future" (XINHUA, 6/27). ... After postponing his rematch with WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, English boxer TYSON FURY "headed straight to the European Championship where he stunned" England football fans Sunday by buying a €1,000 ($1,110) round of drinks. Wearing an England jersey, the world heavyweight champion "arrived unannounced in Nice's historic old town" as he was mobbed by fans and led them, pied piper-like, into a nearby bar. Fury later tweeted a copy of the €1,000 bar bill and wrote, "This is how much I love my fans, euro 2016" (AP, 6/26).
