Romanian Football Federation (FRF) President RAZVAN BURLEANU announced that coach ANGHEL IORDANESCU “is leaving his post, ending his third spell in charge.” Burleanu said that the FRF had agreed with 66-year-old Iordanescu to part ways “after Romania's failure to make it past the European Championship group stages” (REUTERS, 6/27). ... Scottish Golf has appointed BLANE DODDS, a former Scotland tennis player, as its new CEO following HAMISH GREY’s departure from the amateur game’s governing body. Dodds, 49, has been selected for the post for his “experience in the private and public sports sectors.” As well as playing tennis for his country, he is the current chair of Tennis Scotland and is also UK president of the European Capital of Sport Association. Dodds “was most recently the CEO of North Lanarkshire Leisure” (SCOTSMAN, 6/27).

: ROY HODGSON "resigned as England manager after his side's 2-1 defeat by Iceland" saw it knocked out of Euro 2016. The 68-year-old "had been in charge for four years" after replacing Italian FABIO CAPELLO but "has won just three of 11 games in major tournament finals" (BBC, 6/27). ... Former Italy and Chelsea player GIANFRANCO ZOLA "has been replaced as manager of Qatari club Al-Arabi after one season." Al-Arabi said on its website that GERARDO PELUSSO of Uruguay "has been appointed for the upcoming 2016-2017 season" (AP, 6/27). ... Former India batsman LALCHAND RAJPUT "was named head coach of the Afghanistan national cricket team," replacing ex-Pakistan captain INZAMAM-UL-HAQ, "who resigned from the post in April." Rajput's name "was recommended" by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and he "is in line for a two-year contract," but that decision would be finalized after the upcoming tour of Europe (PTI, 6/25). ... Japan's Super Rugby franchise the Sunwolves announced on Monday that coach MARK HAMMETT will leave the Tokyo-based club at the end of the season. The 43-year-old, “who has endured a troubled first season with the Sunwolves in the southern hemisphere's premier club competition,” will return to New Zealand to take up a role as assistant coach of the Otago Highlanders (AFP, 6/27). ... League Championship side Nottingham Forest appointed PHILIPPE MONTANIER as head coach on a two-year contract. Montanier, 51, left his job as boss of Ligue 1 side Rennes in January having previously had stints at Real Sociedad, Boulogne and Valenciennes. The club sacked DOUGIE FREEDMAN in March and ended the season with PAUL WILLIAMS as temporary manager (BBC, 6/27). ... Former Chile head coach JORGE SAMPAOLI "has been named as the new head coach of La Liga" side Sevilla. Sevilla confirmed the appointment of Sampaoli "on a two-year deal." The club has been searching for a new man at the helm since UNAI EMERY "opted to leave his post after guiding Sevilla to an unprecedented third consecutive Europa League triumph" (GOAL, 6/27).
