Close To 30 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Euro 2016 Matchup On ZDF

German public broadcaster ZDF "drew a market share of more than 80% for its Euro 2016 broadcast on Sunday," according to Manuel Weis of QUOTENMETER. The round of 16 matchup between Germany and Slovakia attracted 28.11 million viewers starting at 6pm. Germany's 3-0 win recorded a market share of 82.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, the game obtained an 85.5% share (QUOTENMETER, 6/27).

MORE NUMBERS: In a separate piece, Weis reported ZDF "attracted almost 9.5 million viewers for its broadcast of the game between France and Ireland." The game, which kicked off at 3pm, drew 9.48 million viewers and recorded a 51.6% market share. In the target demo, France's 2-1 victory had a market share of 50.7% (QUOTENMETER, 6/27).

IN FRANCE: LE PARISIEN reported French broadcaster TF1’s broadcast of Sunday's Euro 2016 Round of 16 match between France and Ireland, which France won 2-1, was watched by 11.8 million viewers, translating to “a record market share audience of 66.3%.” The 4-0 Belgium win over Hungary drew 6.1 million viewers to TF1, translating to a 26.3% market share. Germany’s 3-0 win over Slovakia was watched by 5.2 million and translated to a 33.4% market share. Thanks to Euro 2016, TF1 “recorded a 32.7% market share for the entire day” (LE PARISIEN, 6/27).

: QUOTENMETER's Fabian Riedner reported German free-to-air TV channel Sat.1 obtained double-digit market shares for its coverage of the Copa América Centenario final between Argentina and Chile. The game, which kicked off at 2:07am, was watched by 430,000 viewers on Monday morning. The number translated into a market share of 12.9%. In the target demo, the first half of the game, which Chile won after penalty kicks, obtained a 14.5% share as 250,000 viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 6/27).
