La Liga Side Real Betis President Ángel Haro Presents Project To Renovate Gol Sur

La Liga side Real Betis President Ángel Haro presented the remodeling of the Gol Sur section of the club's Benito Villamarín stadium, according to José A. Espina of AS. Haro said, "It is a historic moment for all Betis supporters and for Andalusia in general, because you don't see a work of this significance every day. The demolition work will begin on Thursday at 8:30pm. The Gol Sur will go from 5,000 to 15,000 fans so that the stadium will hold 60,000. It will have a budget that we believe will not be greater than €15 million ($16.5M). The financing will be over 10 years, and the interest and amortization will not be more than €1.8 million. ... The revenue after the work will be important and greater than the cost." Real Betis Dir General Federico Martínez Feria announced the timeline, saying that Aug. 16 will be the deadline for construction firms to present bids for the project. He added that the club will take three weeks to decide and will sign a contract in the middle of September. Feria: "Ideally the work will be complete in July or August of next year" (AS, 6/27).
