SHOWN THE DOOR: LAURENT BLANC is “no longer the manager” of Paris St. Germain. The termination agreement “was signed Wednesday morning.” The former national team coach will “pocket” €22M ($24.5M), a “record severance pay which corresponds to the last two years of his contract,” with about €8M ($9M) gross per season. Because Blanc was with PSG for three seasons, regulations “require an additional half-season’s pay” (L’ÉQUIPE, 6/24). Blanc’s future at PSG “appeared in jeopardy three weeks ago” when club President NASSER AL KHELAIFI described the ’15-16 season “as a failure because of the club’s elimination from the Champions League” by Man City in the quarterfinal stage. PSG achieved its second consecutive domestic treble in '15-16 "by winning Ligue 1, the French Cup and the League Cup." Blanc “signed a two-year contract extension in February” (London INDEPENDENT, 6/23).
