Media Notes: BeIN Sports To Broadcast Eight French Ligue 2 Matches On Friday Nights

For the '16-17 season, BeIN Sports will offer eight French Ligue 2 matches on Friday nights, which until now “were only broadcast in a multiplex.” The beIN Sports Friday matches “will be available on all beIN Sports channels.” The Qatari broadcaster “took advantage of the hole left by the loss of the Ligue 1 Friday night match rights by reinforcing its content with Ligue 2.” For the first time, 100% of Ligue 2 matches will be broadcast live on beIN Sports and Canal+ Sport (MEDIA SPORTIF, 6/23).

Pay-TV broadcaster StarTimes "acquired the exclusive media rights" to the Chinese Super League across sub-Saharan Africa. The deal "will see 240 matches broadcast to viewers across the region, with English commentary, on all of the StarTime Sport Channels for the next three years." Currently, 14 African players "play in the CSL" (SOCCEREX, 6/24).
