More Than 9 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Euro 2016 Match On ZDF

German public broadcaster ZDF "drew more than 9 million viewers for its broadcast of the Euro 2016 game between Sweden and Belgium," according to Robert Meyer of QUOTENMETER. The game attracted 9.02 million viewers and obtained a 33.2% market share starting at 9pm on Wednesday. In the target demographic 14-49, Belgium's 1-0 victory had a 34.3% share as 3.43 million viewers tuned in. Hungary's matchup against Portugal, which kicked off at 6pm, drew 6.75 million viewers on ZDF. The number translated into a market share of 34.8%. In the target demo, the 3-3 draw had a 31.1% share as 1.97 million viewers tuned in. German free-to-air TV channel Sat.1, which also aired two matches on Wednesday, recorded 2.28 million viewers for its first-half coverage of Ireland's 1-0 win over Italy starting at 9pm. The number translated into a market share of 8%. During the second half, the viewership increased to 2.93 million viewers and obtained a market share of 11.4%. In the target demo, Sat.1 attracted 980,000 viewers and a 9.5% share during the first half, and 1.34 million viewers and 13.9% after halftime. The earlier game between Iceland and Austria had a 9.8% share as 1.56 million viewers tuned in for the first half. In the target demo, the first half recorded 650,000 viewers and had a 12.3% share. The second half of Iceland's 2-1 win drew 1.63 million viewers and recorded a 7.3% share. In the target demo, that game obtained an 8.2% share as 590,000 viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 6/23).
