France's M6 Impresses Television World With Hologram Interviews At Euro 2016

There have been Turkey’s Emre Mor, Iceland’s Aron Gunnarsson and Northern Ireland’s Will Grigg, but the “real revelation of the first part of Euro 2016 has been the technology used by M6” for its show “100% Euro,” according to Alexandre Alain of RMC SPORT. The French TV channel “scored a hit with special effects never before seen in French sports.” For the post-match wrap-up show, players and coaches interviewed in the stadium were shown on set with the hosts “thanks to a hologram system.” Hosts also “had fun with the technology” and acted as though they were “teleported” from the set to the pitch. Inspired by a CNN broadcast during the ‘08 U.S. presidential elections, the technology “has already been used by M6 in several news reports.” M6 Technical Dir Mathias Bejanin said, “The goal we gave the production was to create something immersive. Even though the set is in Neuilly, we wanted to give the impression that it was at the heart of the stadium” (RMC SPORT, 6/22).
