England's Goalless Draw Against Slovakia Draws Almost 14 Million Viewers On ITV

England's goalless draw with Slovakia "was the most-watched game of Euro 2016 to date with almost 14 million viewers," according to John Plunkett of the London GUARDIAN. The draw, which secured England’s progress to the knockout stages of the tournament, "had a match average of 12.8 million viewers on ITV and another 1 million viewers on ITV2, with a combined five-minute peak of 15.1 million." The game "was not shown on ITV in Wales, which broadcast Wales’ 3-0 thumping of Russia." It "had a match average of 800,000 viewers and had another 600,000 viewers nationwide on ITV4, a total of 1.4 million" (GUARDIAN, 6/21).

: QUOTENMETER's Manuel Weis reported German TV channels ARD and Sat.1 "drew more than 12 million viewers combined for their Euro 2016 coverage on Monday." The game between England and Slovakia attracted 10.09 million viewers starting at 9pm on ARD. The goalless draw recorded a market share of 33.8%. In the target demographic 14-49, the public broadcaster obtained a 35.1% share. Wales' 3-0 win over Russia recorded an average viewership of 2.6 million on Sat.1. The figure translated into a market share of 10.2% during the first half. In the second half, the market share increased to 12% (QUOTENMETER, 6/21).
