Japanese Top-Flight J.League Set To Ink $10.5M Broadcast Deal

J.League is reportedly "set to sign a major broadcasting right deal" worth an annual total of 1.1B yen ($10.5M) with various domestic and overseas firms from next season, according to KYODO. The deal, with companies including British sports media company Perform Group Ltd. and Japanese telecom Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp., "will double the amount" received from the current deal with satellite communication and pay-TV company SKY Perfect JSAT Corp. that runs through this season. A source said that NTT, which cooperates with Perform Group, "is planning on a new video distribution business for sports," including football, for smartphones (KYODO, 6/20).
