Club 1872 Acquires 30,000 Shares, Becomes Rangers' Sixth-Biggest Shareholder

Club 1872 has become the sixth-largest shareholder in Scottish Premiership side Rangers after purchasing more than 300,000 Ibrox shares, according to Christopher Jack of the HERALD SCOTLAND. The fan organization was formed earlier this year after several groups -- including the Rangers Supporters Trust and Rangers First -- "came together under one umbrella." Increasing the supporter-owned shareholding in RIFC plc. "is one of the main aims of Club 1872" and it now owns more than 6% (HERALD SCOTLAND, 6/20). The SCOTSMAN reported owning 6% of the club was part of the group’s target when it came together to "combine several previous fan associations into one unit." A statement said, "This takes the number of shares held by Club 1872 to 4,900,776 which represents 6.01 per cent of the total shares in RIFC PLC" (SCOTSMAN, 6/20).
