Women's Big Bash League Expects Major Boost From Broadcasting, Schedule In Season 2

The women's Big Bash League "is expected to get a major boost when broadcasting details and fixtures for this summer's campaign are unveiled on Tuesday," according to Jon Pierik of THE AGE. Entering their second season, it is expected the women "will enjoy more live matches on host broadcaster Channel Ten and more double-headers with the men after the success of last summer." The women's season will begin on Dec. 10 -- 10 days before the men -- "ensuring they can enjoy greater spotlight." Teams "will be required to play on successive days." The Renegades, for instance, open their campaign on Dec. 10 against the Adelaide Strikers at North Sydney Oval, and face the Strikers again the next day. They will host the Hobart Hurricanes twice the following weekend. The sixth instalment of the men's season begins on Dec. 20 but it "will be from New Year's day when hostilities between the Melbourne Stars and Renegades heat up" (THE AGE, 6/6).
