Football Notes: Each Member Of La Roja To Receive €340,000 If Team Wins Euro

The members of Spain's national team will each receive €340,000 ($381,000) if the team wins Euro 2016. This was agreed upon during the squad's last practice in a conversation between its captains and Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) execs. It represents a 20% increase on the bonuses players received when La Roja won the tournament in '08 and '12 (EL PAÍS, 5/26).

FIFA
has "expressed concern over some aspects of the construction of the stadium" in St. Petersburg, and stressed the need for "more careful co-ordination of the project, according to the official website of the 2018 World Cup in Russia." Earlier this week FIFA Dir of Competitions Colin Smith carried out stadium visits in St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. FIFA's report said, "During the visit to the Saint Petersburg stadium project, FIFA expressed its concern in relation to several construction matters and highlighted the necessity for tighter project coordination" (IANS, 5/26).

Three Romanian top-flight clubs "have had points deducted" by the country’s football federation (FRF) for "failing to put their financial affairs in order and meet licensing criteria." Romanian Cup winner CFR Cluj will start next season on minus nine points while ASA Targu Mures, which finished in sixth place, and bottom club Petrolul Ploiesti, already relegated to the second tier, "were hit with a six-point deduction" (REUTERS, 5/25).
