Serie A side AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi reportedly "wants to remain" for two to three years if he sells the club to Chinese investors, according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. A group from the Far East has been granted "exclusivity" in negotiations for a 70% takeover of the Rossoneri. According to Tuttosport, the former Italian PM "has put a number of conditions into the deal." The first is that he be allowed "to stay on" as club president for two or three years after the takeover, though this "would be a largely honorary role," given he would only retain around 30% of the club. The second condition "is believed to be guarantees that the Chinese group will invest in the playing side of the club, in order to return Milan to the upper-reaches of Serie A" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 5/24).
READY TO SELL: In a separate piece, FOOTBALL ITALIA reported Berlusconi is reported to have admitted, "I want to sell everything to the Chinese." Telelombardia is reporting that Berlusconi told guests and business partners at a dinner at Villa Gernetto that "he wants to sell the club." Belusconi: "Would you be happy if I sold to a large Chinese consortium? I have no doubt you’d be happy. I want to sell everything to the Chinese. The alternative is that you put in your money, because I’m not putting in any more" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 5/24).
