Bundesliga Side Hertha Berlin Will Remain At Olympic Stadium Until '25

Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin "will stay at Berlin's Olympic Stadium until '25," according to Bremer & Meyn of the BERLINER MORGENPOST. The club and the city state of Berlin, the owner of the stadium, announced the extension of their rental agreement, which was set to expire in '17. The new contract will run from '17-25, with an option for the club to stay a further five years. Depending on attendance figures, Hertha currently pays €3M-€4M ($3.4M-$4.5M) annually in rent. Starting in July '17, the club will pay €5.25M ($5.9M) per year to use the historic venue. A source said that the club and stadium operators also reached a compromise regarding catering rights. The club will start to share catering revenue with the operators. Despite the new deal, Hertha CFO Ingo Schiller said that the club will continue to pursue its own arena project (BERLINER MORGENPOST, 5/23).
