England Cricket women's captain CHARLOTTE EDWARDS has announced her retirement form int'l cricket with immediate effect. The 36-year-old made her int'l debut as a 16-year-old in '96, and during a 20-year career with England has made more int'l appearances than any other female cricketer in the history of the game, amassing 23 Test match caps, 191 One-Day Int'l caps and 95 T20 Int'l caps (ECB). ... Spanish MotoGP rider JORGE LORENZO on Wednesday presented his Moto Museum in Andorra, a 400 square meter area that will be inaugurated in July. The two-story museum will include a bar and restaurant where fans can watch MotoGP races (EFE, 5/11). ... La Liga side Athletic Bilbao's CARLOS GURPEGUI announced his retirement on Wednesday. Saturday's game between Athletic and Sevilla will be Gurpegui's 393rd with the club, "the only one he played for" (EL MUNDO, 5/11). ... West Indian cricket writer, commentator and journalist TONY COZIER died in his home country of Barbados aged 75 “after an illness.” Cozier began writing on cricket as a teenager in ’58 and, “despite never having played the game, he became one of its most distinguished voices.” His last column was published on May 1. Over five decades, Cozier “grew into an accomplished media professional across mediums all over the world.” He worked in radio and TV, wrote books and was “published in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet” (ESPN, 5/11). ... Bangladesh lifted a ban on disgraced cricketer SHAHADAT HOSSAIN Tuesday, “allowing him to play domestic matches weeks after he apologized for torturing an 11-year-old girl he employed as a maid.” Hossain was banned from “all forms of cricket last year by the Bangladesh Cricket Board after he became a subject of investigation for alleged criminal offense, which drew huge media interest.” Hossain, who has denied abusing the girl in the past, apologized on April 28 for what he called his “misdeed” and said that he had made “a mistake” (AFP, 5/10). ... MANNY PACQUIAO appears to "have won a seat in the Philippine Senate, according to unofficial results." Pacquiao has "garnered more than 15 million votes, with about 93 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday." That places him "eighth among candidates for 12 Senate seats, and nearly 3 million votes ahead of the candidate in 13th place." Official results "are days away" (AP, 5/10). ... Premiership rugby side Harlequins and England U20 player SEB ADENIRAN-OLULE was "killed in a road collision." Adeniran-Olule, described by Harlequins as "one of the club's most promising youngsters," was a member of the England U20s squad that reached the final of the Junior World Championship last year. He had also "made two senior appearances off the bench for Harlequins in February and May 2015" (London TELEGRAPH, 5/11).

CHARGES THROWN OUT
: The charges against Inter Milan Manager ROBERTO MANCINI "for fraudulent bankruptcy have been thrown out." The prosecutor in Rome requested that Mancini be "jailed for three-and-a-half years for his alleged involvement in the collapse of Img Costruzioni." A judge had to "decide if there was enough evidence to proceed." Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the GUP [judge of the preliminary hearing] PAOLA DELLA MONICA has "thrown out the charges against Mancini, who is therefore acquitted" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 5/11). 

NEW DELHI DENIED: Britain has turned down New Delhi’s request to deport Indian industrialist and Force India co-Owner VIJAY MALLYA, who "is sheltering in London from creditors" demanding repayment of $1.3B in debts and accumulated interest left by the '12 collapse of his Kingfisher Airlines. India’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday it had been told by the U.K. that its laws did not allow for Mallya -- who has described himself as being in “forced exile” in the U.K. -- to be deported simply on the grounds that he lacks a valid passport (FINANCIAL TIMES, 5/11).
