Media Notes: StarHub To Broadcast Chinese Super League Games In Singapore

Football fans in Singapore will be able to catch Chinese Super League games on StarHub cable TV starting this Saturday. The games are being brought to Singapore "by Singapore-based companies MyChinaChannel and Orientivity in partnership with StarHub." Two games a week "will be broadcast on StarHub’s SuperSports channels and will also be available on mobile devices" (TODAY ONLINE, 5/10).

IT'S ELECTRIC: Babcock Int'l Group has been appointed as the multi-platform TV distribution partner to the FIA Formula E Championship. Coverage of all int'l races in the world's first fully-electric racing series is now distributed live to more than 65 broadcasters around the globe. To maximize audience reach Babcock is simultaneously live streaming the championship to connected devices such as smart TVs and apps on mobile phones, tablets and computers (Formula E).

FREE OF CHARGE: As official licensing partner of UEFA, Sport1 will broadcast all 51 games of Euro 2016 live and free of charge via its digital sports radio station Sport1.fm. Sport1 secured a corresponding audio rights package from UEFA for digital distribution in Germany. It also acquired a rights package for audiovisual highlight clips from SportA GmbH, the Sports Rights Agency of ARD and ZDF, where the multimedia sports platform will offer video highlights of all Euro 2016 games as video-on-demand on Sport1.de and the Sport1 app (Sport1).

The French national men's volleyball team’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament (TQO) games in Tokyo “will be broadcast live on L’Équipe 21.” Due to time differences “multiple replays will also be shown during the day.” In January, France's TQO opener in Berlin “was watched by close to 500,000 viewers on L’Équipe 21” before drawing 1 million viewers in the semifinals and 1.2 million for the finals (with a peak audience of 1.7 million for match point) (L’ÉQUIPE, 5/9).

BBC Scotland secured the live TV rights to show Scotland rugby's two-Test series against Japan in June. The side will face the Asian champions on June 18 at Toyota Stadium, Toyota City, and the following Saturday at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo (BBC).

Global digital video multi-platform network Rightster "is re-launching worldwide as Brave Bison." Following the return of Ashley MacKenzie to the group as CEO, as well as the subsequent £10M ($14.4M) raise on Jan. 7, the company "is embarking on a transformation from third-party technology provider to social video broadcaster" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 5/10).

Sports digital and broadcast firm deltatre struck a commercial deal with Tokyo-based sports data provider DataStadium. The two will act as partners for the delivery of sport solutions to enhance the digital and broadcast content offering across the Japanese market. Under the deal, deltatre and DataStadium will partner to help Japanese broadcasters, federations and leagues to locally amplify their audience (deltatre).
