Premier League Side Bournemouth Fined $11M For Breaching FFP In '14-15

Premier League side Bournemouth was fined £7.6M ($11M) by the Football League for breaching financial fair play (FFP) rules in its promotion-winning campaign last season, according to the PA. The club's accounts were published at Companies House on April 29 and they revealed the club had reported a loss of £38.3M ($55.7M) as it won the League Championship in the '14-15 campaign. The size of the fine "had not previously been disclosed by the Football League, with details of the penalty being disclosed in the club's accounts." Bournemouth's loss was an increase of some £10.3M ($15M) for the previous financial period, with staff wages up to £30.4M ($44.2M) and with turnover at just under £13M ($18.9M) (PA, 5/3). REUTERS' Simon Jennings reported wage costs "were more than double Bournemouth's annual turnover" of £12.9M ($18.8M), while the club spent £4.6M ($6.7M) to prepare its Dean Court stadium for the Premier League. Bournemouth is safe from relegation this season and, as such, is "guaranteed a lucrative share" of the new £5.14B ($7.47B) domestic TV rights deal that kicks in next season (REUTERS, 5/3).
