Source Says Tottenham Close To Deal To Play Champions League Games At Wembley

A source said that Tottenham has held "positive talks" with the FA about playing its Champions League home matches at Wembley next season, according to Dan Kilpatrick of ESPN. Next season will be Tottenham's last at White Hart Lane and it plans to move into its new 61,000-seater capacity home at the start of the '18-19 campaign. In order to keep the project on schedule, the club "could fast-track the removal of part of White Hart Lane's North Stand," prompting Chair Daniel Levy to consider alternative venues for Champions League games. Although no deal has been reached, the source said that the option of playing at Wembley "was looking more likely than not," and discussions will intensify after ManU's 1-1 draw against Leicester on Sunday all but confirmed Spurs' return to the Champions League (ESPN, 5/2).
