UEFA Wants More Than $4M Per Match For French National Football Team TV Rights

The broadcast rights for the French national football team matches for the period of ’18-22 “have been put up for sale by UEFA,” according to Étienne Moatti of L’ÉQUIPE. In total, five “packages” were made available by CAA Eleven, the exclusive agency of UEFA for national teams.

  • Package A: 12 matches of the French national team in the UEFA National League (the new competition that will be launched Sept. '18 and will take place every two years), "including the Final Four if France qualifies."
  • B1: 14 qualifying matches "for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup."
  • B2: Another 14 "qualifying matches for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup."
  • C: The "top 40 matches of national teams (except France)" during the period of '18-22.
  • D: All of the other matches live and "matches with other packages offline."
The interested broadcasters "must give their offers by May 30 at noon." As of now, "TF1 is the French national team's broadcaster until '18 (except for finals)" and pays €3.5M ($4M) per match. UEFA "wants to get" more than €4M ($4.6M) per match in the next contract (L’ÉQUIPE, 4/28).
