Media Notes: Channel Seven Apologizes For Cutting The Last Post Short

Australia's Channel Seven has "made an on-air apology for cutting to an advert break midway through a bugler's performance of The Last Post." Channel Seven cut to the ad break in its Sunday night broadcast "as the crowd and players at the Melbourne Cricket Ground stood to attention in an Anzac tribute" ahead of the Richmond vs. Melbourne Australian Football League game. After the game network presenter Hamish McLachlan apologized on air, saying that they were issuing a "full apology, an unreserved apology from everyone at Seven" (STUFF, 4/25).

German free-to-air TV sports network Sport1 "will increase its German Touring Car Championship (DTM) coverage after securing additional highlight rights." Sport1 "will show a one-hour highlights show on free-to-air TV during the next two seasons" (SPONSORs, 4/25).

James Packer's online sports-betting company CrownBet "has been convicted of breaching state betting laws by offering inducements" for New South Wales residents to gamble. CrownBet "pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching state betting laws that prohibit advertising inducements, by offering bonus points rewards and bonus bets in October and December last year" (SKY NEWS, 4/22).
