MLS Expands TV Presence In Asia With Deals For Japan, China

MLS has further expanded its Asian broadcast portfolio, signing a new two-year deal with Japan’s Fuji TV, and expanding its existing deal with China’s Le Sports. Fuji TV will now broadcast two MLS regular-season matches per week, as well as select MLS playoff games and MLS Cup. The league retains the rights to digital live games and news clip packages in Japan. MLS previously signed a digital partnership with China’s Le Sports in ‘15, and is now expanding that to a TV deal that will have the network broadcast multiple live games per week, as well as the league’s All-Star game, playoff games and MLS Cup. The league already has existing deals in place in Singapore and Taiwan, and is distributed in more than 140 countries and territories around the world. MLS partnered with IMG in Oct. ’14 to market and distribute its global media rights.
