The Rugby Football Union appointed JOANNA MANNING-COOPER to the new role of director of digital, marketing & communications. She will join the RFU at the beginning of May and will be responsible for the digital, marketing and communications strategy, integration, planning and delivery. This new exec director role reports to CEO IAN RITCHIE and is a member of the senior leadership team (RFU). ... Japanese Gymnastics Association Secretary General MORINARI WATANABE confirmed "his intention to stand" for the presidency of the Int'l Gymnastics Federation. Watanabe will enter the race to replace Italian BRUNO GRANDI, who is due to step down after 19 years at the helm at the body’s Congress in Tokyo in October. The Japanese is "only the second member of the gymnastics fraternity to officially confirm their candidacy," along with current European Union of Gymnastics President GEORGES GUELZEC, ahead of the May 17 deadline (INSIDE THE GAMES, 4/7).
