Paris 2024 Bid Committee Launches 'Public Engagement Initiative' For Brainstorming

Paris 2024 launched what it claims to be the "biggest-ever public engagement initiative in Olympic bid history," aimed at tapping into the ideas of French people in an attempt to "ensure their plans touch and resonate with the entire nation," according to Daniel Etchells of INSIDE THE GAMES. The engagement initiative will look to create "open dialogue with the French public, allowing them to make contributions to the bid as the project evolves and develops." The public can submit ideas and engage with the bid in one of three ways: "in person at engagement meetings, through an online platform or by using an engagement kit which will be available to download via the bid website." Once the process has ended on Sept. 30, the "top 100 ideas will be analyzed and considered for inclusion in the Paris 2024 project" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 4/5). LE FIGARO's Martin Couturié reported Paris 2024 Bid Committee co-Chair Bernard Lapasset said, "We want to involve all of the French people with this candidature and in the development of the project. These exchanges and support are important because they will add meaning." Paris 2024 General Dir Étienne Thobois said, "More than 400 propositions have already been launched. We are committed to supporting the 100 ideas with the most votes" (LE FIGARO, 3/30).
