Marketplace Roundup: Team England Renews Kit Sponsorship With Kukri

Team England re-signed with Kukri to kit out England's athletes for the Commonwealth Games to supply competition and delegation sportswear to the whole of Team England's teams for the next two years. The partnership sees Kukri continue to supply sportswear to elite athletes across 18 different sports following on from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games in Samoa (Commonwealth Games England). ... Borobi the surfing koala "is the mascot for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast." He was "winched down onto Burleigh Beach from a helicopter on Monday" and handed a new surfboard from surfer Mark Occhilupo. As a child Borobi was "constantly told koalas couldn't surf but he didn't listen, ​​according to the folklore of a slick launch video" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/4).

HONEY POT: German 2nd Bundesliga side St. Pauli once again cemented its "reputation as one of the most socially and ecologically conscious football clubs in existence" by producing its own line of in-house honey. The club is "seeking to raise awareness of bee deaths by installing hives" at its stadium and selling the resultant honey via the official club store. The new enterprise is named after head coach Ewald Lienen -- hence the honey being called "Ewaldbienenhonig" (ESPN, 4/4).

JVC Kenwood 
extended its commitment to the FIA World Touring Car Championship ahead of the '16 season getting underway April 1-3. All World Touring Cars will be equipped with Kenwood radio communication equipment to enable the broadcasting of pit-to-car transmissions for the first time in the WTCC. New Kenwood windscreen decals in recognition of the company’s increased involvement in the championship has been introduced, while JVC Kenwood will partner the WTCC Hall of Fame display in the new WTCC Fan Village, present at the WTCC races in Europe (FIA WTCC). 

U.K. event organizer Human Race announced that ICAP, a markets operator and provider of post-trade risk mitigation and information services, will "become official title sponsor of L’Etape London by Le Tour de France." One of the U.K.’s foremost cycle sportives, ICAP L’Etape London by Le Tour de France will take place on Sept. 25, "starting and finishing at the Lee Valley VeloPark, home of the 2012 Olympic Games" (MONDOVISIONE, 4/4).

Ligue 1 champion Paris St. Germain launched a brand content campaign that featues the hashtag: #WeWantMore. The campaign will be deployed across the club's various media channels (digital, stadium, stores, PSG.fr and PSG.TV) ahead of the team's Champions League match against Man City. Throughout the week, visuals, films and activations will bring together the 31 million fans across all continents who are connected with the club (PSG).

German Hockey League (DEL) side Dusseldorf EG has renewed its sponsorship deal with Effecten-Spiegel for a minimum of three seasons. The company has been a partner of the club since '12 (DEG).
