Football Notes: Average Ticket For Saturday's Clásico Costs $997 On Resale Market

The cost of attending a Real Madrid-Barcelona match through ticket resale "has become more expensive than ever." The average price for tickets on the secondary market for Saturday's Clásico is €879 ($997), according to Ticketbis. This beats the average price for the first game this season between the rivals: €659 ($747). To "understand how resale is breaking records, one only has to look back just three years." In '13, the average resale price for one of these games was €474 -- meaning the cost has jumped 46% in "just three years" (AS, 3/30).

Qatar World Cup organizers said that "they are considering using Airbnb to house some of the visiting football fans during the World Cup finals in 2022." Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy General Secretary Hassan al-Thawadi said that "market demands could mean the room-sharing service being used in six years' time." Thawadi: "We are looking at Airbnb as an opportunity. It's a current trend" (AFP, 3/29).
