JUAN MARGETS will leave his position as COO of the Int'l Tennis Federation later this year. The decision was announced Tuesday by ITF President DAVID HAGGERTY. Margets, who has served in various roles at the ITF for 25 years, "was among the three rival candidates defeated by Haggerty" in last year's vote for the presidency of the world governing body (AP, 3/22). ... Modern Times Group appointed PETER NØRRELUND as exec VP and CEO of MTG Sport, and GABRIEL CATRINA as CSO. JOSEPH HUNDAH has meanwhile left his position as exec VP and CEO of MTG Africa. Nørrelund, a former editor-in-chief at Danish public service broadcaster DR, joined MTG in '03 and rose to become MTG head of sport in '13. He is responsible for MTG’s global sports organization of 200+ people that acquires rights for MTG’s online and offline platforms across multiple territories; runs the technical play-out of MTG’s sports channels; and produces the local-language commentary and programming around coverage of events including the Olympics, UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, Danish Superliga, Formula 1, the NHL and NFL. Catrina joined MTG in '13 as head of group strategy, and has worked closely with the group’s operating businesses. Hundah joined MTG in '11 as CEO of MTG’s African operations and has been an MTG EVP since Nov. '12 (MTG). ... CAA Sports promoted MATT BROWNSTEIN to baseball agent and NATALIE DRYE to property sales exec. Drye is based in London, and Brownstein is based in L.A. (CAA). ... Data services provider Sportradar named Perform Group Head of Media Finance KATIE WIBERG director of U.S. league partnerships, a newly formed role. The company also named former Pathgather Senior Business Development Exec BRIAN JOSEPHS director of enterprise sales and former Dish Network Product Manager ALANNA HEBNER enterprise account manager (Sportradar). ... Brazil Sports Minister GEORGE HILTON stepped down "just five months before the country hosts the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro," Presidential Chief of Staff JAQUES WAGNER announced. Hilton will "likely be replaced" by RICARDO LEYSER, a senior official in the sports ministry (REUTERS, 3/23). ... Vanarama National League South club Margate "ended weeks of speculation" about Chair BOB LASLETT's future by announcing that he is "standing down." The move was confirmed by the club in a statement although rumors that he is leaving to "take over in a similar role" at League Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers "appear to be unfounded." JOHN WEBB has taken over as club chair (KENT ONLINE, 3/23). ... Architecture firm Populous announced that PETER RIGBY, formerly CEO of Informa Plc, will join the company as co-chair of its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Rigby joins Chair, Founder & Senior Principal ROD SHEARD in overseeing the development of Populous’ business in EMEA. In addition, Senior Principal CHRISTOPHER LEE has been promoted to managing director. Lee has worked for Populous in Australia, the U.S. and Europe and been involved in the design of more than 30 stadia including ANZ Stadium for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in London and the Estadio das Dunas for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He is currently leading the company’s projects in Qatar and for Tottenham Hotspur (ISPORTCONNECT, 3/23).
