Former South Africa FA CEO Leslie Sedibe Calls FIFA Cowards After Receiving Ban

They "are cowards" -- that was Leslie Sedibe's reaction to a five-year ban from football imposed on him by FIFA on Monday -- a sanction which impelled the former South African FA CEO to come down hard on the organization he served for "13 painful months," according to Mazola Molefe of the INDEPENDENT ONLINE. He also "let rip" at FIFA, claiming it came to its conclusion "without allowing him to give his side of the story." Sedibe, now CEO of Proudly SA, was "also fined" a little over 310,000 rand ($19,475). Speaking on Monday, Sedibe also claimed to "have insights into reports" that the country paid $10M in bribes to then FIFA VP Jack Warner and other FIFA exec committee members to secure the rights to host the 2010 World Cup (INDEPENDENT ONLINE, 3/15). TIMES LIVE's Tiyani Wa Ka Mabasa wrote Sedibe said, "They [FIFA] are crazy... I can assure you that I'm not going to waste my children's money. let them sue me... I will meet FIFA in court and I will clear my name. One thing I really relish is to have them under cross examination" (TIMES LIVE, 3/15).
